A vital aspect of planning a Halloween party is deciding which activities you will have ready for your guests. More than likely, most people will find their own fun and depending on the age and the group, just end up talking to each other while enjoying snacks and food and beverages. It’s always a good idea, still, to have some pre-defined activities on hand, especially if you’re mixing groups of friends or people who don’t know one another very well, some Halloween party games can help a lot with breaking the ice.
Ideas For Halloween Party Games
Let’s get right into it! Here are some fun suggestions of games to play with your guests at the party. Everything has a Halloween theme, but of course you can play other games as well – even if you can’t think of a way to “Halloween-ify” them.
This first game is something you can make at home with some basic supplies, it will cost about $5 to $10 depending how how many pieces you want to make. If you would rather buy some Halloween party games instead, just skip to the end and we’ll suggest some for all budgets.
Pin The Jack On The Lantern
This is a fun game, especially for younger kids. All you need to get things ready is some felt or similar fabric, some velcro, glue and scissors. It’s a Halloween version of pin the tail on the donkey, a classic party game where winning isn’t really important and it’s mostly just about having fun. For some reason, people placing the stuff in the wrong place almost always gets a laugh.
Take a large piece of felt, or use a couple smaller pieces to make a pumpkin. Basically just cut out a pumpkin shape from your orange fabric, and use some green or brownish fabric to make the stem, and glue all of the pieces together.
Next, take some smaller pieces of fabric and cut out a few mouths, eyes, noses, and any other decorations you might put on the face of a pumpkin. It’s really up to you, and you can make as many as you want. You can attach the velcro to the back of these face-parts to help them stay in place.
Now, you can either play this game like pin the tail on the donkey where the player is blindfolded, and must try to put the pieces of the face in the correct spot after being spun around a couple times. This is tricky, especially for really young kids, but there’s another option.
Another way to play is simply to think of it like a Mr Potato Head toy rather than a game, which is a lot easier for the little ones. All you need to do is put the stuff in place, mix and match different face pieces on your pumpkin and see what kind of creative creations everyone can come up with. No need for a blindfold or to be spun around, this isn’t about the challenge about putting things in the right place, it’s about creativity!

Charlie Brown Halloween Board Game
A lot of us grew up on Charlie Brown and Peanuts, and remember the classic story about the Pumpkin patch. You can order the board game for around $8 on Amazon.com, check it out here! The goal of the game is to share your candy with Linus, whoever shares first is the winner, so that’s also a good message to show to kids.
Inflatable Pumpkin Bean Bag Toss
This game is super easy to setup, and only five bucks. It’s an inflatable pumpkin-shaped target for you to toss bean bags into. We suggest picking up two of them, so you can have teams of two tossing the beanbags back and forth across the room or outside.
